The purpose of the study was to determine the effects of GCA and the SCA variance of self-pollinated maize lines for the trait "1000-grain mass" and to consider the genetic components exerting control over the studied trait. Eleven self-pollinated maize lines and 55 test hybrids (Griffing's model I, method 2) participated in the study. The test was conducted in 2019 and 2020 at OOO VPO "Pokrovskoe" Engelssky district of Saratov region. The indicator was counted annually in 1,980 plants (random sample of 30 plants). As a result of the study, the range of variation of the trait "1000-grain mass" was determined in self-pollinated lines (209.2-369.4 g – 2019, 190.8-305.9 g – 2020) and test hybrids (241.5-317.2 g – 2019, 201.4-349.5 g – 2020). The effects of GCA and SCA as well as the genetic and environmental components of variation derived from diallel analysis of self-pollinated maize lines were calculated. Self-pollinated maize lines with a high value of GCA effect in the study years were selected: SPK 16 and SPK 17. A high variance of SCA was found in the lines SPK 12, SPK 19, SPK 15, SPK 17 in 2019, and in the lines SPK 20, SPK 17, SPK 15, SPK 16, SPK 21 in 2020. The "1000-grain mass" trait manifests itself under the additive genetic effect. The effect of epistasis was evident in lines SPK 12 and SPK 16, and in 2020 in lines SPK 15, SPK 29 and SPK 20. The significance of the paratypical coefficient by study years was determined. The trait "1000-grain mass" is controlled by two or three genes or groups of genes.
Keywords: maize, inbred lines, tester hybrids, 1000 grains mass, gene.

The article presents data on effectiveness of herbicides and compound micronutrient fertilizer in winter triticale crops in the Moscow region. When growing winter triticale, plant protection systems are given an important place in the formation of highly productive crops. For this reason variants of herbicide treatment were studied both as standalone and in a tank mixture. The use of herbicides is a mandatory method in grain growing technology, given that weeds, which are the main competitors for nutrition, light and moisture against cultivated plants, significantly reduce the productivity of the latter. Scientific data indicate that the use in the experiment of herbicides Balerina Super, SE, Biolan Super, VR and Magnum, VDG, which had a wide spectrum of action, made it possible to effectively suppress most types of weeds in the agrocenoses of winter triticale, both juvenile dicotyledonous and monocotyledonous, as well as perennial root seedlings. Spraying crops with pesticides significantly reduced the weight of weeds compared to control. Treatment with herbicides and the Rauactiv agrochemical significantly increased the crop structure and yield of winter triticale varieties. On average, over the 2021-2024 research years, the maximum yield of winter triticale was revealed in the variant with the Balerina Super herbicide while using double treatment with Rauactiv micronutrient fertilizer (5.31 t/ha), which indicates the high efficiency of the proposed method in agrotechnology.
Keywords: winter triticale, herbicide, micronutrient fertilizer, Non-chernozem zone, contamination, yield.

Under the conditions of climatic changes, the task of creating and introducing varieties with improved adaptive properties into agricultural production is of particular relevance. In addition, it is necessary to search for new sources of genetic resistance to common pathogens. Various diseases such as rust, fusarium ear blight, pyrenophorosis and powdery mildew can significantly affect the yield and quality of cereals. As part of the breeding activities, particular attention is being paid to the discovery of new genetic resources that provide resistance to the most important pathogens in soft winter wheat varieties from different regions. The purpose of the study is to identify the most valuable soft winter wheat samples in terms of complex field resistance to the most important diseases in the region that can be used for practical breeding. Eleven soft winter wheat varieties with complex resistance to various diseases, including yellow and brown rusts, pyrenophorosis, powdery mildew and fusarium ear blight were identified. These varieties include: two varieties from Germany – Torrild and Olivin; three varieties from Kazakhstan – Mereke 70, Zhadira, Ak bidajj; two varieties from Belarus – Zaritsa and Jadvisja; three varieties from Poland – Soraja, Fenezja, Muza; one variety from France – Dorota.
Keywords: winter wheat, wheat diseases, resistance, immunity.

Triticale is a crop characterized by high yield potential and increased protein content, which determines the high feed and nutritional value of its grain and processed products. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the best winter triticale varieties of different ecological and geographical origin in terms of yield and grain quality and to select them for further breeding. The scientific study was carried out at Udmurt SAU in the years which were contrasting in terms of the weather conditions (2021-2023). Forty-five varieties were studied in comparison with the Izhevskaya 2 and Zimogor varieties. The laboratory studies were conducted at the Department of Plant Production, Agriculture and Breeding of Udmurt State Agricultural University and the Department of Analytical Research of the Tatar Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture. The most productive varieties of winter triticale – Beta (391 g/m2), Zimogor (381 g/m2) and Kornet (378 g/m2) – were identified on the basis of three-year studies. In terms of nutritional value, the grains of the tested varieties met the requirements of classes 1-2 of GOST R 53899 "Feed triticale. Specifications". The following varieties deserve the attention: Girey, which has an advantage over other varieties in protein and fat content in grain, Torchinske – in starch content; Sirs-57 and Torchinske – with low ash and fiber content; Izhevskaya 2 – in protein and amino acid content. The grain of the Izhevskaya 2 variety was characterized by a high content of 12 out of 17 defined amino acids (including 7 essential amino acids). The following varieties were also characterized by the content of certain amino acids: Girey, Germes and Bereket. The listed varieties can be used as source material for breeding winter triticale to improve the quality of fodder grain.
Keywords: protein, fat, ash, fiber, starch, metabolic energy, non-essential and essential amino acids
