NEW MOTOR FUEL FOR DIESEL ENGINES OF GROUND TRANSPORT VEHICLES

Current research is aimed at experimental confirmation of practical application of biokerosene as an alternative motor fuel for diesel engines of ground transport vehicles.
To expand the range of alternative diesel fuels intended for engines of ground transport vehicles, a new motor fuel – biokerosene under the conditional brand BK-40 – has been developed. Its components are aviation kerosene (AK), rapeseed oil (RaM), and a cetane-improving additive (CIA) in the percentage ratio of 59.7% AK : 40% RaM : 0.3% CIA.
The above component and percentage composition was substantiated experimentally based on the results of laboratory and workshop experiments to determine the physicochemical and operational properties of biokerosene, as well as the power, fuel efficiency, and environmental performance of a turbocharged diesel engine when running on this type of alternative diesel fuel.
The results of experimental studies indicated that BK-40 biokerosene not only proved the rated values of power, fuel efficiency, and environmental performance of the diesel engine but also surpassed some of them. Transport diesel engines produced by the domestic industry are fully adapted to operate on biokerosene of this composition and do not require design modifications.
