The editorial team of the scientific journals Niva Povolzhya and the Volga Region Farmland are guided in their work by the international ethical rules of scientific publications, including the rules of decency, confidentiality, supervision of publications, consideration of possible conflicts of interest, etc. In its activities, the editorial team follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics and also draws on the valuable experience of reputable international journals and publishers.

Requirements for manuscripts

Authors should present reliable results of the work done, and also an objective discussion of the significance of the research. The basic data of the research must be clearly stated in written form. The article should contain a sufficient amount of information for testing and repeating experiments by other researchers. Fraudulent or knowingly untruthful statements are equated with unethical behavior and are unacceptable.

Originality and plagiarism

Authors must submit only original works. When using textual or graphical information obtained from the works of other persons, references to relevant publications or written permission of the author are necessary. Any kind of plagiarism is regarded as unethical behavior and is unacceptable.

Multiple, repeated and competing publications

Authors should indicate that their work is published for the first time. If the elements of the manuscript were previously published in another article, the authors are obliged to refer to the earlier work and indicate what is the significant difference between the new work and the previous one. Verbatim copying of one’s own works and their paraphrasing are unacceptable, they can only be used as a basis for new conclusions. Submitting an article to more than one journal is simultaneously regarded as unethical behavior and is unacceptable.

Confirmation of sources

Authors owe to acknowledge the contributions of other persons influenced to the nature of the research presented. Bibliographic references to the works used are required. Information obtained in private, through conversation, correspondence or discussion with third parties should not be used without obtaining open written permission from their source.

Authorship of the work

Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the concept, design, execution, or interpretation of the stated research.

Principles of humanity regarding animals

The editors ask the authors to adhere to the principles of bioethics in the study of animal objects.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

All authors must disclose in their works information about any financial and other significant conflicts of interest that may affect the results of the study or their interpretation. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.

Significant errors in published works

If the author finds a significant error or an inaccuracy in his published work, he is obliged to immediately notify the editor or the publisher of the journal and assist them in eliminating or correcting the error. If the editor or the publisher learns from a third person that the published work contains significant errors, the author is obliged to immediately remove or correct them, or to submit to the editorial office evidence of the correctness of the original article.

Decision to publish the article

Submission of an article for consideration implies that it contains scientific results that have never been published before. Each article is reviewed. The review takes place according to the one-sided blind review scheme, when the reviewers know the author, but the author does not know the reviewer. Experts have all the opportunities to freely make motivated criticisms regarding the level and clarity of presentation of the material presented, its compliance with the profile of the journal, the novelty and reliability of the results. The recommendations of the reviewers are the basis for the final decision on the publication of the article. Responsibility for the decision to publish the article lies completely with the editor team of the journal. The editors decide on the publication, guided by the journal policy, taking into account the current legislation in the field of copyright. The editors evaluate manuscripts solely for their scientific content. The article, in the case of its accepting for publication, is placed in the public domain; copyright keeps belonging to the authors.

Confidentiality

The editor and all editorial staff members are not allowed to disclose information about the submitted work to anyone other than the respective authors, reviewers, other editorial consultants and, if necessary, the publisher. The editor and editorial staff members are not allowed to use unpublished materials used in the submitted manuscript in their own research without the written consent of the author.

Conflict of interest and resolution of ethical conflicts

In the case of a conflict of interest as a result of a competitive relationship, collaboration, or other relationship and relationship with one of the authors, companies, or institutions associated with the submitted manuscripts, the editor submits the manuscript for consideration to another member of the editorial team. Editors should request all participants in the disclosure process of existing competing interests. If the competition of interests was revealed after the publication of the article, the editors must ensure the publication of amendments. When submitting an ethical complaint regarding the submitted manuscript or published article, the editor must take reasonable response measures in collaboration with the publisher (or the society). Each report of the fact of unethical behavior will be considered, even if it arrived years after the publication of the article. If the complaint is confirmed, the appropriate corrections, denials or apologies will be published.

Contribution to editorial decisions

Expert assessment helps the editor in making editorial decisions and, by means of the cooperation of the editor and the author, can help the author with the improving of his work.

Operativeness

Any reviewer elected to evaluate a work, who believes that his qualifications are not enough to review a study presented in a scientific work, or knows that the reviewing will be too slow, should notify the editor and abandon the reviewing process.

Confidentiality

Any manuscript submitted for examination should be treated as a confidential document. To show it to other reviewers or discuss it with other experts without the prior permission of the editor-in-chief is unacceptable.

Standards of objectivity

Reviews of scientific works must be objective. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers are obliged to express their views clearly with the use of arguments.

Confirmation of sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published works in peer-reviewed material that were not quoted by the authors. Any statements, conclusions or arguments that have already been used in any publications should be properly formalize as quotations. The reviewer is also obliged to draw the editor's attention to a substantial or partial similarity with any other work with which the reviewer is directly acquainted.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Unpublished materials used in the submitted manuscript should not be used in the reviewer's own research without the written consent of the author. Closed Information or ideas received during the reviewing must be kept confidential and not to be used for personal gain. Reviewers should not take part in the review and evaluation of manuscripts in which they are personally interested in.
